Center for Media and Democratic Governance
Established in 2014, the Center for Media and Democratic Governance (CMDG) is a joint project of Rutgers SPAA and Rutgers University and the Center for Media and Peace Inititives (CMPI), an organization dedicated to communicating innovative and peaceful solutions to global challenges. The center seeks to provide training programs for journalists and public administrators around the world. In collaboration with other universities and organizations, CMDG also explores the interconnection between media and democratic governance through conferences, such as the Michael Gershowitz Annual Conference on Media and Democratic Governance and seminars as well as providing distance educational opportunities for journalists and civil society activists. Under the aegis of Diaspora Journalism Initiative propelled by the Annual Conference on Media and Democratic Governance, CMDG envisages a non-credit Certificate International Journalism Training Program to be hosted both online and offline.
