Name: Jiahui Yao
Degree Program: Bachelor of Arts
Major: Public and Nonprofit Administration
Expected Graduation Date: May 2020
Name of Organization: Manhattan Multicultural Counseling
Location of Internship: New York, NY
Title: Assistant and Youth Representative to the United Nations
Responsibilities: I reported on UN conferences (including live social media) and designed youth programs and other marketing materials. My goal was to help more youth learn about global issues (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), such as mental health and human rights, and have the ability to address them.
Favorite Aspect of Internship: I met, spoke with, and learned from distinguished international delegates at the United Nations. A lot of them were diplomats, ambassadors, or presidents of leading organizations such as the World Health Organization and the World Bank. These conversations increased my comprehension of global issues, which I care about a lot. In addition, during the UN conference, I had the opportunity to express myself and practice my presentation skills.
Career Goals: I love politics and I care about humanity. I have always wanted to be a diplomat of China since I was very young, so I could show the world the REAL China.
