We are pleased to invite you to “Echoes of the Silk Road,” an interactive cultural music workshop that builds on last spring’s concert “Silk and Strings: A Musical Journey through China’s History.” This event offers an opportunity to explore traditional Chinese music through live performance, artist insights, and hands-on learning.
Date: Thursday, December 11, 2025
Time: 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Location: The Art Gallery, 1st Floor, Paul Robeson Campus Center (PRCC)
Admission: Free and open to the Rutgers-Newark community; light regreshments will be served
Program Selections Include:
• Erhu Solo – “Spring of Jiangnan” 江南春
• Bamboo Flute Solos – “Strolling on the Street” 行街; “A New Song of the Herdsmen” 牧民新歌
• Handpan Performances – “In Pursuit of Light” 追光; “Fire Dance” 火舞
• Pipa Solo – “Spring in the Tianshan Mountain” 天山之春
• Pluck Trio – “Pin” 品
The workshop will conclude with an audience Q&A and an opportunity to try selected instruments under the guidance of the musicians.
