Join us for a dynamic, intergenerational conversation and workshop bringing together community leaders, activists, and nonprofit professionals working at the forefront of LGBTQIA+ advocacy.
- Candid conversations on how nonprofits advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights
- Insights into the challenges and strategies behind community-based activism
- Opportunities for students and local leaders to connect and collaborate
This workshop connects Rutgers–Newark students with Newark’s trailblazing leaders — activists, policymakers, and civic changemakers — who have shaped the city's rich history of LGBTQIA+ advocacy. It is designed to foster intergenerational dialogue, build meaningful connections, and highlight the vital role of nonprofits in advancing equity and justice for LGBTQIA+ communities.
You will:
- Explore Newark’s legacy of LGBTQIA+ activism
- Learn civic strategies that advance justice and equity
- Build mentorship connections with local leaders
- Develop advocacy, leadership, and research skills
