Rutgers SPAA alumnus Ahmed Shehata (MPA'18) was confirmed to serve on the New Jersey State Board of Education by the New Jersey State Senate following a nomination by Governor Phil Murphy.
Shehata has an extensive background in business administration, public administration, and community involvement. Currently, as the assistant superintendent of business for Clifton Public Schools, he leads strategic financial initiatives for the 11th largest school district in New Jersey.
"My experiences and educational background, [in] a large part [due] to Rutgers, played a huge role in helping me secure this position," he said.
The New Jersey State Board of Education helps to shape educational policies and standards that impact all public schools across the state, such as setting curriculum standards, establishing graduation requirements, and developing regulations that guide the operation of schools. The board's 13 members serve without compensation for six-year terms.
