Documentary on SPAA's Hurricane Relief Efforts in Puerto Rico Leads Film Series Lineup
Be The Light is a documentary capturing the challenges of rebuilding Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricane Maria and the innovative solutions that have been implemented to help residents. In the film, Assistant Professor of Professional Practice Clayton Walton from Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration and six SPAA graduate students joined multimedia icon Angie Martinez in a project installing solar energy systems at community centers in Puerto Rico's most devastated towns.
The documentary is the first in a new film series – the PSE&G True Diversity Film Series – that examines films that spur discussions on the importance of strengthening community ties. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking panel discussions with invited guests of varied fields, including academia, news media, and beyond.
