Dr. Gregory Porumbescu Recognized as Outstanding Reviewer for JPART

Dr. Gregory Porumbescu, associate professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark, received a 2026 JPART Outstanding Reviewer Award, which recognizes exceptional reviewing work done for the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory in 2025.

In the announcement, the editors noted, "At JPART, we wish to recognize our reviewers, who year after year contribute their time and expertise to shaping the best manuscripts published in public administration and management research." Awardees were recognized for their contributions as a reviewer, both in terms of willingness to review at many points in time and in providing formative and insightful reviews based on deep knowledge and careful reviewer work.

As a public management scholar, Dr. Porumbescu's research centers on the influence of technology on the democratic anchorage of public organizations and has appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Public Administration Research and TheoryPublic Administration ReviewGovernment Information Quarterly, and Social Science & Medicine. His research has received support from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. He also served as co-founding principal investigator for the New Jersey State Policy Lab, an initiative dedicated to enhancing evidence-based policy making in state government, and was a member of Governor Murphy’s New Jersey AI Task Force’s Equity and Digital Literacy Working Group, where he provided guidance on developing equitable AI policies.
