On the Job Market Fall 2024: SPAA PhD Candidate Valentine A Lamar
Valentine A Lamar's research interests include corruption, governance, institutional development, citizen engagement, and public policy. She studies citizens’ perception of corruption using both qualitative and quantitative methods, and is currently researching the relationship between political efficacy and citizens’ corruption perceptions, and effects of citizens’ corruption perceptions on democratic norms. At SPAA, she serves as the coordinator for the Anti-Corruption Student Group (ACG), a forum for students interested in anti-corruption, transparency and accountability, and related fields. In 2021, she received ASPA’s Section on Ethics and Integrity in Governance 2021 Outstanding Student Paper Award. Her dissertation is a three-paper project entitled, “Essays on citizens’ perception of corruption” and her chair is Yahong Zhang.
