Dr. McDougle's research and teaching interests are in the areas of voluntarism, philanthropy, nonprofit management, and social inequality. Currently, her work focuses on how student participation in a specific form of service-learning, referred to as experiential philanthropy, relates to several outcomes such as the development of students' philanthropic identities, the expansion of foundation philanthropy, the fulfillment of higher education's civic mission, and ultimately the strengthening of our communities.
