Jayné Johnson, Esq., Inaugural Director of the State of NJ's Office of Equity

In recognition of Black History Month, Rutgers SPAA hosted a conversation with Jayné Johnson, Esq., who serves as the inaugural director of the State of New Jersey's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (Office of Equity) to discuss "DEI in NJ Government."

Johnson talked about how the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion is not only looking at the workplace, employment, and schooling, but also at the outcomes that we see in communities from policies. She noted that equity is ensuring and supporting increased access to opportunity, and working to make New Jersey a state of opportunity means opening up spaces and places for individuals to be able to get the opportunities they need in order to move ahead.

About The State of New Jersey's Office of Equity
The State of New Jersey's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (Office of Equity) is charged under Executive Order 265 to develop and support a statewide infrastructure for equity that covers State agencies, personnel employed by the State, and recipients of State funds. Through the coordination of policy-making processes within and across State agencies under Executive Order 319, guidance to the Governor and other State leaders, and the development of a strategic plan with measurable benchmarks, the Office of Equity works to strengthen the State workforce and improve outcomes for the people of New Jersey.
