Rutgers SPAA Colloquium: Dr. Elizabeth Bell (2/2/24)

On Friday, Feb. 2, Rutgers SPAA welcomed Dr. Elizabeth Bell, assistant professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin, as part of the Spring 2024 PhD Colloquium Series. The presentation was sponsored by the New Jersey State Policy Lab.

She discussed her study, "Gender-based Bureaucratic Discrimination: Evidence from Title IX Implementation," in which she finds that ambiguity and complexity in client cases exacerbates gender-based discrimination among Title IX coordinators dealing with sexual misconduct cases. The study reveals a key underlying mechanism of discrimination that may be addressed through changes in policy design.
