Monica Aldea-Espinoza, MPA'19
Monica Aldea-Espinoza is a doctoral candidate in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark. Her dissertation, titled Recruitment Process and Social Equity: Is There Room for Merit?, explores the integration of social equity principles in merit-based recruitment systems, with the Chilean civil service serving as a case study. In addition to her research, Aldea-Espinoza has actively contributed to the SPAA community, having served on the student PhD association for four years, including two years as president. Her broader research interests include public administrators’ competencies and qualifications, MPA curricular design, and professional training programs aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of public service professionals. Aldea-Espinoza’s work seeks to advance equitable recruitment practices and improve public sector governance through education and policy reform."
