On the Job Market Fall 2024: SPAA PhD Candidate Tong Chen

Tong Chen

Tong Chen's research interests lie in nonprofit management and public corruption and applying emerging technologies in public administration and academic research, such as data-driven management, fraud detection, and text analysis. His dissertation consists of three papers regarding public corruption in the United States. Within this project, he created a dataset based on the press release disclosed by the FBI and coded with AI tools. At the 2024 Public Management Research Conference, he presented "Public Corruption in the United States: Discovery from FBI Press Releases" with Yahong Zhang. He worked with Rutgers SPAA faculty on the "Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Responses to COVID-19, Evaluation for City of Newark” project and its health assessment survey
