Why did you enroll at SPAA?
I knew I wanted to select a program that would provide me with all of the necessary building blocks to one day become an effective administrator. As a nationally recognized research university, selecting Rutgers University's School of Public Affairs and Administration was one of the best decisions to make considering a student’s ability to access outstanding resources alongside studying with distinguished faculty, staff, and students.
What do you hope to accomplish with your degree?
With a degree in public administration, I feel the possibilities are endless. I hope to make a positive impact on the world and make it a better place for many generations to come.
Favorite SPAA memory?
I enjoyed co-hosting the 10th anniversary celebration of the Public and Nonprofit Administration Undergraduate Program. Taking on the leadership responsibility to successfully execute an important milestone for the School of Public Affairs and Administration was not only an honor but one of my favorite SPAA memories. Speaking with alumni and learning about how their degrees landed them high-level executive positions was a plus as well!
Biggest challenge(s)?
I think the biggest challenge, which I am sure other students have faced as well, was the transition into learning from home. Sticking to a schedule that involved staying on campus all day then completely transitioning to online classes was without a doubt a unique learning experience. The pandemic has tested us all in many ways, however I appreciated the faculty and staff for their support.
Next steps?
I am thrilled to continue my studies with SPAA as an MPA graduate student.
Advice to incoming students?
Get involved! Involvement with the university, whether through study groups or student organizations, is in my opinion one of the best ways to learn more about what the school has to offer.
