Public Leadership Certificate
The undergraduate-level Public Leadership Certificate at Rutgers SPAA provides students with the skills needed to lead and manage in the public interest while upholding key public service values such as accountability, responsiveness, transparency, and justice. Students learn how to analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems, and make collective evidence-informed decisions in a complex, cross-sector environment.
Students seeking the Public Leadership certificate complete three (3) courses for a total of nine (9) credits from the following SPAA undergraduate courses:
Required:
- Cross-Sector Leadership (3)
- Community Impact Lab (3)
Choose one of the following:
- Understanding Public Administration and the Public Sector (3)
- Understanding the World of Nonprofits (3)
- Ethics in Public and Nonprofit Organizations [Writing Intensive] (3)

Eligibility
All Rutgers-Newark undergraduate students
To Obtain the Certificate
Students need to have at least a 2.000 cumulative GPA, complete the request form, and email it to Alyssa Sofman, the assistant dean for undergraduate programs at alapat@newark.rutgers.edu.
