Numerous SPAA Faculty and Alumni Contribute to Recent Book on DEI in Public Administration
Multiple SPAA faculty and PhD alumni contributed to the recent publication Handbook on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Public Administration from Edward Elgar Publishing.
The book was co-edited by Dr. Shilpa Viswanath (PhD'19), assistant professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, who also co-wrote chapters.
Chapter 2, "DEI and Representative Bureaucracy," was written by Dr. Norma Riccucci, Board of Governors Distinguished Professor at Rutgers SPAA, and Dr. Fangda Ding (PhD'23), assistant professor in public administration at the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong.
Chapter 4, "Gender in Public Administration," was co-written by Dr. Viswanath.
Chapter 5, "The Work Lives of LGB Public Servants: A Systematic Quantitative
Literature Review," was co-written by Dr. Seth Meyer (PhD'18), assistant professor at Bridgewater State University.
Chapter 9, "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Nonprofit Management," was written by Dr. Lindsey McDougle, associate professor at Rutgers SPAA; Dr. Wendy M. Nicholson (PhD'24), independent scholar, researcher, and consultant; and Dr. Kareem K.M. Willis (BA'16; MPA'17; PhD'22), social justice scholar and practitioner.
Chapter 10, "Psychosocial Dimensions of Health, Homelessness, and Diverse Families," was co-written by Dr. RaJade M. Berry-James (PhD'99), senior associate dean of faculty and academic affairs and professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Chapter 14, "Race and Gender in the Brazilian and Colombian Public Administrations," was co-written by Dr. Ricardo A. Bello-Gomez, assistant professor, Rutgers SPAA.
Chapter 25, "Integrating Knowledge, Frameworks, and Future Directions: Reflections and Considerations for DEI in Public Administration," was co-written by Dr. Viswanath.
