Nicolás Lagos, MPA

Nicolás Lagos a doctoral candidate in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark and a Fulbright Fellow from Chile. His research examines how automation and artificial intelligence are transforming public auditing and anti-corruption oversight, with a focus on discretion, legitimacy, and public management reforms. He has received multiple international awards and grants, including the INTOSAI Centre for Advanced Studies research grant and the IIA Aramco Dissertation Scholarship. He has extensive experience teaching both online and in-person classes. At Rutgers, he has taught Technology and Public Administration at the MPA and undergraduate levels, as well as courses on ethics, research methods, and public methods at universities in Chile. Before his doctoral studies, he worked for eight years in the Cabinet of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, leading national and international anti-corruption projects. He has also consulted for Transparency International–Chile and the Senate of the Republic of Chile.
