Alan Sadovnik, PhD

Dr. Alan Sadovnik was designated Board of Governors Distinguished Service Professor emeritus upon retiring from Rutgers University effective summer 2023. He is a recipient of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey’s Faculty Scholar Teacher Award for 2017-2018 in recognition of his outstanding contributions in research and teaching. He has served on the boards of Teachers College Record, The American Education Research Journal, History of Educational Quarterly and The Urban Review, Sociology of Education and Educational Foundations. Dr. Sadovnik has authored and edited numerous books as well as dozens of journal articles and book chapters and ten major urban educational policy reports on Newark, NJ and the nation.
