Alan Sadovnik, PhD

Dr. Alan Sadovnik is a Board of Governors Distinguished Service Professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark. He is a recipient of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey’s Faculty Scholar Teacher Award for 2017-2018 in recognition of his outstanding contributions in research and teaching. He is currently on the editorial board of Teachers College Record and has served on the boards of The American Education Research Journal, History of Educational Quarterly and The Urban Review, Sociology of Education and Educational Foundations. Dr. Sadovnik has authored and edited numerous books as well as dozens of journal articles and book chapters and ten major urban educational policy reports on Newark, NJ and the nation.
