New Jersey Nonprofit Panel

The New Jersey Nonprofit Panel (NJNP) project collects data to examine contemporary trends, challenges, and best practices that the New Jersey nonprofit sector experiences over time in serving the state and its residents. NJNP aims to serve three overarching goals: (1) fostering new knowledge on the nonprofit sector in New Jersey, (2) promoting best practices to foster effective and ethical New Jersey nonprofit organizations, and (3) contributing to informed government decision-making related to the New Jersey nonprofit sector.

NJNP includes two panel datasets. The Citizen Panel collects data on New Jersey citizens’ voluntary activities and their attitudes towards the nonprofit sector. The Nonprofit Panel collects data on a wide range of management and policy topics related to the nonprofit community in New Jersey. NJNP also issues periodical reports to inform decision-making in government and nonprofit agencies to promote positive social impact and change.

NJNP is housed in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University–Newark and is funded by a seed grant from the Chancellor’s Office of Rutgers University–Newark.
